A tribute to Amitabh Bachchan

Welcome to my web-tribute to the greatest actor ever. Today There are more people who have seen, heard of, or are fans of Amitabh Bachchan than any other actor in this World. Why do I say this? Taking India into account, there is no one in India who can say "I have not heard of Amitabh Bachchan!" That means 1 billion people!! Add in the recognition he has internationally - both of foreign based Indians and others - there is no other actor who can claim this fame. Just think about it - how many people can say at-least a billion people recognize them by name and site?!?!

This site was named Inspector Vijay; after the role he played in the movie which was the turning point of his career and perhaps Indian cinema! Zanjeer released in 1973 and directed by Prakash Mehra, cast Amitabh Bachchan in the starring role as broody police inspector Vijay, who did not take things lying down. This movie changed the face of Indian cinema, and forver cast Amitabh as the "Angry Young Man". The rebel with a cause, the person who did not bend down to injustice and was not afraid to fight for his rights -- an Indian version of "Robin Hood"!

The phenomenal success of Zanjeer ensured that Amitabh would reign over Indian cinema screens for the next decade or so. Over the next few years he had a string of successful releases, and his name alone was enough to guarantee the film would make money for both the producer and distributors. This was very crucial in his success. Amitabhs movies were guaranteed to make profits for both.

This is my attempt to chronicle the success and continued popularity of Amitabh Bachchan with his fans and audience.
